Description
This series introduces early readers to the people who work at school and the main events in the school year. There are two levels of text, one for children who are starting to read and another for more advanced readers and teachers. This illustrated book follows a school outing made by a school in north London to a farm in Essex. It follows the children and teachers throughout the day, starting with setting off from the school by coach. At the farm, they are met by a farmer and a guide and are shown around the barns and fields where they meet horses, cows, goats, lambs and pigs, and learn about some of the cereal crops. After having lunch and drawing some of the animals they have seen, the school returns home. Diana Bentley has written a series of Bible stories for children and her publications for teachers include "The How and Why of Readability" and "The How and Why of Cloze Procedure". She is also a consultant for Ginn reading 360: 9-13 and is a language consultant to the ITV "Once upon a Time" programme. - from Amzon
